Salu Self-Help Blind and Handicapped Association (SSHBHA) is a secular, local civil organization that works for the welfare of Vulnerable Groups of Society with a Special focus on Women and Persons with visual and physical impairments. SSHBHA was established on June 16, 1996, to contribute its part in efforts being made to empower persons with disabilities. SSHBHA’s Organizational Vision is “to see Ethiopia where Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) enjoy dignified life”. The association got its registration certificate from the Ministry of Justice in 1996. According to the Charities and Societies Proclamation (No. 621/2009), Salu Self-Help Blind and Handicapped Association was re-registered as an Ethiopian resident Charity organization with registration No. 0409 by the Agency for Charities and Societies Organizations (CSO).

Salu Self-Help has implemented different Projects that helped Persons with disabilities to build their capacity, generate income, improve their livelihoods, and build their confidence as active and productive citizens. Almost all of the targeted beneficiaries of SSHBHA are Persons with visual and physical impairments.
Sustainable development will not be achieved unless the needs of the marginalized groups of people are fulfilled, especially those women/girls, Persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable segments of the society.
Investing in the economic empowerment of women, Persons with disability, and other marginalized groups sets a direct path toward gender equality, poverty eradication, and inclusive economic growth. Salu strongly believes that working with women and Persons with disabilities greatly contributes not only to gender equality and Support for disabled persons but also to inclusive poverty reduction nationwide.
Since its establishment in 1996, Salu Self-Help has implemented different Projects that helped Persons with disabilities to build their capacity, generate income, improve their livelihoods, and build their confidence as active and productive citizens. Almost all of the targeted beneficiaries of SSHBHA were Persons with physical impairments and their family members. To further reach the visually impaired persons of Ethiopia, Salu would like to request your financial assistance to implement our program.
